Anytime you drag and drop a large image into your layout have you noticed that the transform handles disappear. Which makes it very difficult to resize. This tutorial will show you a very easy step to help with this problem.

Open up the layout you will be working on. In this example I will be working with a paper and ribbon from my "Magical Fun" page kit.

You will notice that my ribbon is 17inches wide. My background paper is 12inches. I like to made my ribbons 17inches so they will fit perfectly if they are placed corner to corner across the page.

The problem begins when you place this large element on the layout. You will notice that the transform handles are not available to grab. This is because part of the ribbon is off the page.

An easy way to quickly resize your layout (document) is to hit Control-O on the key board (on a PC). This combination will resize the document to show the transform handles for the largest element. Then you can easily grab the handles to resize your element.

Once you have resized you element you can cut off any of the extra that hangs over your document. Why? you ask? Well this extra information just adds size to your already large layout. Making it a much slower process anytime changes or saves are made to your document.

Go to Select > All, then Image >Crop. This will remove all extra hanging off your layout, thus reducing file size.

Enjoy.....
