To make a shape to crop into like a circle or square or even a tag is a relatively easy thing to do in Digital Image Pro (DIP)

In this example we will crop a picture into a circle shape. First open up the picture you would like to crop.

File > Open > then browse for your picture and click ok.

If you do not have your layout started then open up a new document to work on (or open up a background paper).

File > New > then "Type in the size of your new document you want to create" as seen below.

Click on View advanced options to set the DPI, I will be working with a 200DPI document.

Click done, then click on done again. Now you have a new 8.5in x 11in document to work with. (or you just could open up a background paper, or work on the current layout you have open).

Insert > Shape and select the circle shape. (for more fun shapes select "more shapes" there is a fun arch shape you can use for a tag). Click on the mouse and then drag on the corner to make the circle the size you want (the click and drag will maintain the circle dimension). If you would like to distort the circle, hold the shift key and click and drag the corner). In my example I am working with a circle 4in x 4in.

Next we want to fill the circle with our picture. Click on

Effects > Fill with Texture or color

You will notice that your files stack will open and you will find your picture loaded in this files stack, so double click on it. You can open a picture and browse for it if you want another picture.

You can now resize or move the box (your original picture) around to get the picture you want in the circle shape.

Click done and then click on OK to make the final change. You now have your picture cropped in a circle shape.

You can make tags and many other fun shapes this way, just use your background paper as the picture. Have fun and make sure to upload your creations to the DSP gallery.
