This tutorial will show you how to make a brushed metal texture. You can use the textured paper you design and then create some fun metal embellishments.

Open up a new document. I will start with a 12in x 12in 200dpi image as shown. Click on done.

Add a square shape. Insert > Shape. Drag the square to cover your entire background.

Fill this shape with a grey color. Use your paint bucket or
Format > Shape or Line > Fill color

Select more colors option to make a custom paint color of grey R- 155, B- 155, G- 155

Click on OK.

Add a noise or grain to the gray background. Effects > Filters > Film Grain. Click on ok if it asks to flatten the image.

Add a blur to the image- Effects > Distort

Click on the horizontal perspectives box and then change the slider to 100%. Click on done.

Use the marquee tool to select a area out of the middle that has a nice texture. Edit > Copy this selection

Open up a new document. I am using a size of 4x6 200dpi (this size should be large enough for most metal elements).

Edit > Paste. Your selection should be in this new document. Now stretch the area (buy grabing the handles) to fit the paper.

You now have a nice brushed metal texture to work with. Have fun making your metal elements.

Enjoy.
